Privacy Policy
The short version: qLog doesn't collect your data. There's no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. Everything you save stays on your iPhone.
This policy explains how the qLog app for iPhone, including its Share Sheet extensions ("qLog" and "Add to qLog"), handles information. qLog is made by Mohit Chauhan ("I", "me").
Information I collect
None. qLog doesn't send your reading list, articles, quiz answers, notes, settings, or usage information to me or to any service I operate. The app contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs. Its only third-party component is an open-source HTML parsing library that runs entirely on your iPhone and doesn't send data anywhere.
Information stored on your iPhone
To work, qLog stores the following locally on your device:
- Links you save, with each article's title, website name, and the dates you saved and finished it
- Your queue order
- Quizzes and summaries generated for your articles, your quiz answers, and your notes
- Your settings, including any guidance text you enter
This data stays in qLog's storage on your iPhone and is shared only between the app and its own Share Sheet extensions so they can save to the same library. qLog doesn't sync it to other devices or upload it anywhere. Like other app data, it's included in your iPhone's backups (to iCloud or a computer) according to your backup settings, which Apple manages.
Article text downloaded to create a quiz or summary is processed in memory and isn't saved.
Connecting to the websites you save
qLog connects directly to the websites of articles you save or read, in order to:
- look up an article's title,
- download the article's text so your iPhone can create a quiz and summary, and
- show the article when you open it (in an in-app Safari view).
These are ordinary web requests, similar to visiting the page in a browser. The website receives the information any site receives, such as your IP address and a browser identifier, and its own privacy policy applies. I don't receive or see these requests. When you read an article in the in-app Safari view, Safari's settings and the website's policies apply.
Quizzes and summaries (Apple Intelligence)
Quizzes and summaries are generated on your iPhone using Apple Intelligence's on-device model. qLog doesn't send article content to me or to any external AI service. You can turn quizzes and summaries off at any time in qLog's Settings.
Deleting your data
You can delete any article, along with its quiz, summary, and notes, by long-pressing it and choosing Delete. Deleting the qLog app removes all of its data from your iPhone. Copies may remain in existing device backups until those backups are replaced or deleted.
Apple and the App Store
When you download qLog, Apple may collect information according to its own privacy policy. I may receive aggregated, anonymous statistics from Apple (such as download counts, and crash reports if you've chosen to share them with developers), which don't identify you.
Children
qLog isn't directed at children under 13, and it doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, I'll post the updated version on this page and update the effective date above. If a change would affect how your information is handled, it will be reflected in the app's App Store privacy details as well.
